A Family Affair

Moving out but staying together
Ask any parent and they will tell you the time when children leave the nest to find their way in the world is bittersweet. They will also tell you those young people inevitably find their way back… but for the D’Souza family of The Meadows, the story has been quite the other way around.
Joel D’Souza and his parents, Glenn and Jules, are all residents of AVID’s Strathpine community, The Meadows. Joel was one of The Meadows’ earlier buyers in 2017, purchasing his home in the community – located 25 kilometres north of Brisbane – at 28 years old.
“I decided pretty quickly that this was it – this is where I wanted to live,” Joel said.
“The AVID team were flexible – the community, location and home catered to all my needs, and it was a complete package with everything included.”
“My parents loved The Meadows as much as I did, and they said how they’d love to live here as well. It started as a bit of a joke at first but then we thought, well why not?” he said.
Referral sales at the 423-home community make up nearly 20 per cent of all sales within The Meadows, and it has seen the community fast-tracked in delivery to keep up with the flock of new home buyers. Happy homeowners have been the communities’ greatest ambassadors, which saw a long list of enquiries that carried throughout the delivery of the community.
Glenn and Jules bought their home at The Meadows in 2020 – a few years after Joel.
“Joel did all the research, and we were involved in his buying journey, so we saw how straight-forward the process was and how convenient it was to live at The Meadows,” Glenn said.
“We make sure to give Joel his space, but we do enjoy Monday night dinners as a family every week. It’s great having him nearby whenever we need each other. In fact, we are trying to convince our daughter to buy at The Meadows and Jules and I are even looking at purchasing an investment property here as well.”
Today Joel not only enjoys the perks of having Mum and Dad nearby, but he’s reaping the rewards of community loyalty. Residents like Joel have inspired AVID to launch a program that benefits those who welcomed new residents to its community. Families like the D’Souzas can take advantage of AVID’s new rewards program, in which eligible referees are rewarded for being part of a friend or family member’s home buying journey into an AVID community.
