March 19, 2025 | IN Together Magazine | BY AVID | 9 min read

Sydney is the nation’s mecca for many things, but its foodie scene is certainly one to marvel. With a mix of stunning locations, fabulous feasts, and diverse cuisines, there is something to suit every tastebud and mood. The plethora of options can often feel overwhelming, especially on your first visit, so to make things simpler, we’ve rounded up some of the best choices.

Whether you‘re planning a date with your special someone, want to bring the whole family together over fabulous food, or are craving a hang out with friends, it’s all covered here.

Bring the kids

The Grounds of Alexandria

Broken into three dining areas, The Grounds of Alexandria has something for everyone, including plenty of room to roam for the little ones. For casual eats, visit the Café section, where kids under 12 can dig into The Grounds’ signature mini rainbow pancakes, adding a colourful spin on a sweet classic, or munch on some toasted cheese and sweetcorn quesadillas if you’re visiting for lunch.

St George Sailing Club

There’s not much that beats a day by the water with family, unless of course it’s complemented by wood-fired pizzas, burgers, and fresh seafood to dig in to. St George Sailing Club is a perfect choice for the whole family, just sit back and watch sailors glide through Botany Bay in this spacious, recently refurbished venue. While there is a designated kid’s menu, there are plenty of familiar favourites on the ‘grown-ups’ menu that the little ones will still love.

Coogee Pavilion

Coogee Pavilion is well-known as a great venue for families, and we understand why. The three-storey pub is located right next to Coogee Beach, and the downstairs level is a haven of kid-friendly fun with giant Scrabble boards and a play area. They also have warming wood-fired pizzas (which come in both kids and regular sizes) and a full kids menu including refreshing smoothies, perfect for a post-beach trip energy boost.

Fancy date spots

Fred’s

Stepping into Fred’s certainly isn’t a typical dining experience. The rustic design is reminiscent of an old farmhouse and the menu, which is proudly locally sourced and seasonally updated, certainly complements the warm setting. Choose from a range of elevated favourites including sage and spinach barbajuan, and oven baked chicken accompanied by grapes, almonds, tarragon, and aioli. Their menu changes all the time, but a delicious evening out is practically a guarantee.

Totti’s

If you prefer a date-lunch over a date-night you can’t go past a visit to Totti’s in Bondi. Their lunch options include flavourful pastas, refreshing salads, and a jam-packed antipasto menu, but make sure to save space for dessert. Totti’s Neapolitan Ice Cream Sandwich is a nostalgic crowd-pleaser not to be missed.
