AVID Athletes Takes on Tour De PIF

ON Friday 9 September, 14 of AVID Property Group’s (AVID) Sydney staff members got active to raise funds for homeless youth by participating in The Property Industry Foundation’s Tour de PIF.
Akin to the iconic French cycling event – just with a twist, Tour de PIF gives participants the option to walk, run, or cycle – with a unified goal to raise money for Haven House South Dowling, Property Industry Foundation’s latest Haven Project.
The event saw AVID raise its largest single fundraising effort for the Foundation to date.
AVID CEO Cameron Holt said the funds raised and strong event participation demonstrated AVID’s commitment to the cause.
“Over nearly 12 months of our partnership with the Property Industry Foundation, AVID staff have shown a fierce level of support for what is an important industry and societal issue,” Mr Holt said.
“AVID staff have their finger on the pulse and recognise that as members of the property industry, we have an opportunity play a key role in minimising youth homelessness in Australia.
“I’m especially proud of our team’s support for the Sydney Tour de PIF event, where AVID placed within the top 10 fundraisers on the day, neighbouring fellow property developers.
“Tour De PIF, and more broadly the foundation’s partnership program provides an opportunity for Australian property developers and builders to band together and use our resources to support the foundation,” he said.
Youth Homelessness affects 44,000 young Australians, and in New South Wales there is approximately 9,000 young people sleeping on the streets on any given night.
Property Industry Foundation CEO Kate Mills said flagship events like these are pivotal in raising much-needed funds for the Haven House Fund, which provide a safe refuge for some of these 44,000.
“Tour De PIF is a favourite event among our own staff, sponsors and volunteers, so it’s no surprise that despite the wet weather and cancelled cycling portion of the event, we had a fantastic turnout,” Ms Mills said.
“So far we’ve raised over $225,00 from the event, an incredible achievement. This is all thanks to our participants and generous industry partners like AVID.
“The funds raised will go towards Haven House South Dowling, which will add 19 more bedrooms to our total of 234 to date.
“We have been building and refurbishing homes for homeless youth since 1996, and this project will be a significant step towards eliminating one of the most pressing societal issues this country faces,” she said.
