AVID Property Group’s (AVID) Group General Counsel and Company Secretary Nicole Bannerman has been recognised for her outstanding contribution to the sector, making The Legal 500 GC Powerlist: Australia 2018.
The annual GC Powerlist – now in its 29th year – highlights the top 100 general counsel in Australia, with Ms Bannerman’s recognition following a four-month long research process of the leading in-house legal lights in Australia.
Previously a senior counsel at Woolworths, Ms Bannerman joined AVID just 12 months after the business had separated from Investa. Ms Bannerman has since acted on $90 million of residential development acquisitions – and the equivalent value in industrial asset disposals – to allow the Australian developer to push forward its ambitious growth plan.
AVID CEO Cameron Holt said Ms Bannerman’s inclusion in the GC Powerlist was a reflection of her legal expertise, and the value she brings to AVID.
“We are all really proud of Nicole for making this year’s GC Powerlist, which is a true reflection of the exceptional expertise, insight and drive she brings to AVID each and every day,” Mr Holt said.
“The list highlights some of the country’s most influential in-house lawyers and we have no doubt that is exactly where Nicole belongs – the difference she has made to AVID over the past few years has been invaluable to our success.”
Ms Bannerman said she was honoured to be recognised among her peers on the list.
“I have been fortunate to lead some significant changes within AVID, exploring new ways for the business to work and supporting the team to achieve more – it’s been a fantastic opportunity for me professionally and personally, and I’m thankful for the support of the entire AVID team,” she said.
“AVID is a business that really does put its money where its mouth is as far as culture and values are concerned, with a dedication to innovation ultimately helping us to achieve more – for our shareholders, our customers, and our people.
“Without that attitude instilled in the business’ DNA, it would make my job much more challenging.
“AVID is on a steep growth trajectory and while I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved so far, I’m more excited about what’s still to come.”
