Love at First ‘Site’

Newlyweds Michael and Ashley Bishop had multiple reasons to smile after a chance to achieve homeownership and officially say “I do”, all in the space of three months.
AVID’s growing Covella community – crafted in collaboration with Greenfields Development Company – in Greenbank, proved to be love at first site for the couple when, after only one tour of the block and surrounding community, they quickly realised this would be the place to build their dream home.
Coming from Brisbane and the Redland Regions, Michael and Ash were drawn to Covella’s balanced lifestyle where the natural green setting and family-friendly community added to its appeal.
“We had been loosely looking at the market when we came across an ad for our block of land. We made the drive out to Covella and were instantly sold – it was the perfect area for our first home,” Michael said.
Covella recently celebrated its 1000th settlement earlier in the year, and with first-home buyers continuing to call this place home, is a true testament to the growing demand for affordable new residential communities with green space.
As young buyers, taking the leap to purchase a home had been an exciting albeit daunting dream for Micheal and Ashley, but one they were willing to take.
“For many young Aussies like us, homeownership is a marker of adult independence and the key to economic security,” said Michael.
“We found the price of buying a block and the building process more affordable compared to buying an existing home. Through the assistance of the Queensland First Home Owner Grant and first home guarantee scheme, we were finally able to live out our property dreams.”
After a beautiful wedding in October last year, the couple were soon able to move into their four-bedroom home in April of 2024 and since then have loved being a part of the still expanding address.
“There is something quite special about moving into a new home within a growing community. We get to watch Covella evolve and meet so many new people along the way.”
One third of Covella is dedicated to greenspace including the Heartland Central Community Park which is positioned just a stone’s throw from the Bishop’s new home. These areas are truly where residents can come together with neighbours to enjoy and explore.
“The community is filled with life and boasts a family-friendly atmosphere. We always find people walking their dogs or kids riding their bikes, it makes you instantly feel welcome and at home.
“We are finally creating memories in the home we have always dreamed of owning. The feeling is still so surreal. We can’t help but sing Covella’s praises to our family and friends.”
While they’re still relishing in newlywedded, home-owning bliss, the couple are already excited for what’s to come.
“We look forward to building our future at Covella and enjoying the surrounding parks and local shops.”
