MP Brad Battin, alongside residential community developer AVID Property Group, officially opened much-needed new parklands in the growing community of Officer on Saturday May 28.

The new parklands, located in the centre of AVID Property Group’s newest boutique community Hillstowe, provides more than a hectare of innovative greenspace for Officer families to enjoy.

Mr Battin said he was delighted to join so many locals on Saturday for the ticketed opening event and ceremonial ribbon cutting.

“South east Melbourne is a booming area for young families, and it is great to see the increased demand for recreational spaces and new, modern playgrounds being met,” Mr Battin said.

AVID Property Group Victoria Project Director Danny Boubli said the new Central Park was designed to provide a place not just for kids, but for all members of the community to come together.

“The park has been designed for the broader community with multiple spaces for children and adults alike to enjoy.

“The playground includes equipment for smaller children such as a rocker and carousel, as well as a larger play structure, inground trampolines and a multi-sports court complete with spectator seating for older children and families to enjoy,” Mr Boubli said.

AVID Property Group worked with landscape architects to introduce two new concept ‘nature-play’ areas within the park.

“Nature-play has been heavily researched and is proven to improve a child’s physical, cognitive, and emotional development,” Mr Boubli said.

“We are proud to bring this modern element to Officer.”

Hillstowe’s Central Park pays homage to the site’s history, with recycled brickwork referencing the 1880s brickmaking industry and the wooden colour palette tying into Officer’s beginnings in the timber industry.
