Manor Lakes Football Club receives grant to look the part as one team

April 1, 2021 | IN Media Release and News | BY Holly Brennan | 3 min read

Manor’s Lake Football Club women’s teams will be looking the part with new team jumpers thanks to the 2021 Community Sponsorship and Grants Program from local community, Savana by AVID Property Group (AVID).

Each year Savana opens applications for its Community Sponsorship and Grants program and with many local businesses and community groups hit hard by the pandemic, community funding is more important than ever.

Manor Lakes Football Club will be able to put funds towards new water bottles and jumpers for the under 12, under 14 and senior women’s football teams so they can head onto the field feeling part of one team and one goal.

Manor Lakes Football Club often rely on local support and contributions to help provide equipment and team gear for training and competitions said Manor Lakes Football Club President Shane White.

“There’s been a lot happening between lockdown and safety protocols to implement. We’ve been engaging the teams online and giving them exercises and drills to do at home but they’re itching to start the season on the field,” Mr White said.

Manor Lakes Football club has seen an influx of players attending training sessions when possible, creating a greater need to make sure the club can provide the right gear for its players.

“There’s also been some financial strain because there was no football season in 2020 or income to support the influx of members ready to get back to training and competitions,” Mr White said.

“The sponsorship from AVID relieves the pressure and stress from our committee and coaches, who are all volunteers and just want to see families have fun and a healthy outlet. Our fees are very low and don’t cover extra expenses,” Mr White said.

“Nothing makes us prouder than seeing new faces and teams being able to put on their new jumpers for the very first time and seeing kids’ face’s light up.

“Being able to supply new water bottles and jumpers is a blessing to our teams because it helps create happy and energetic people at the club who are inspired to be part of the team, whether it be through playing, coaching, medical training or helping out with functions and activities.”

AVID General Manager Victoria Peter Vlitas said sponsorships play an important role in the community and he was glad to be able to support local groups.

“Our Activate Grants are designed to help support grassroots initiatives within the community that can benefit from funding because they positively shape communities − we want to be able to give back and contribute to the wider community,” Mr Vlitas said.

“We are excited to be able to award the Savana Activate Grant to the Manor Lakes Football to help the women’s senior and under 12 and 14 teams gear up in time for Round 1 of its 2021 season.

“With so many people at Savana participating in local clubs, it’s a pleasure to be able to connect with a group that many of our residents are a part of and we hope they’ll be able to see a competition season this year.”

The Manor’s Lake Football Club players are looking forward to wearing their new team jumpers with pride to represent their team.
