New appointment boosts AVID’s Maitland team

June 18, 2019 | IN Media Release and News | BY Holly Brennan | 3 min read

AVID Property Group (AVID) has strengthened the team at the company’s highly successful Maitland developments, Harvest and Waterford in Chisholm, with the recent appointment of community engagement specialist Olivia Power.

Ms Power has joined the ambitious development company as Community Development Officer and will be responsible for community events and engagement activities with current and future residents.

The role is imperative in carrying out AVID’s place making vision of creating neighborhoods built on connectedness. This is carried out by fostering community through events, regular communication via social media and community newsletters as well as partnering with and sponsoring local clubs and schools.

The appointment comes as the booming development brings its total number of generously sized blocks sold since it launched in 2018, to more than 152 blocks.

Formerly a Community Manager with Newcastle Light Rail, Ms Power brings a wealth of knowledge to her new role in Maitland.

Ms Power said her appointment with community minded developer AVID brought her back to what she loved – being on-the-ground interacting with the local residents, across all elements of a development.

“I love being involved in all facets of the project – it’s exciting to see how my role has a direct influence on the dynamic and quality of life of a developing community,” Ms Power said.

“My passion has always been to work with the people for the people, giving stakeholders a voice and allowing them insight and influence on the shaping of a project for their community.

Waterford is such a dynamic project – I’m excited to be working on-site with the current and future Waterford community as well as with Harvest residents next door.

“This is a unique opportunity as I am able to build upon strong ties between the already established Harvest community and the emerging community at Waterford.

“What I like about Waterford, and what attracted me to the role, was the opportunity to make an impact as part of AVID’s core team, working closely with an expansive group of specialists to deliver a community that is real and heartfelt,” she said.

Ms Power spent the first portion of her impressive career in London and Sydney, before returning home to Newcastle 10 years ago to be closer to family and friends.

A graduate of The University of Newcastle, Olivia has an extensive background in Business, Human Resource Management, Communications and Community Engagement across various industries.

She has most recently worked on the Sydney Metro Project a $7 billion infrastructure project for CPB John Holland.

AVID New South Wales Project Director Nathan Huon said Ms Powers’ vast experience across both commercial and public sectors would be invaluable to the team.

“Olivia’s ability to connect with people and understand their needs gives residents a sense of ownership allowing them to help AVID continue to create communities where people love to belong,” Mr Huon said.
