The Diggers Rest Community Christmas Carols are making their joyful return December 8 with an
expected turn-out among the thousands, all eager to sing carols and enjoy festive activities.
In collaboration with Diggers Rest Primary School, the Lions Club of Diggers Rest will host the
evening which is open to the entire community and sponsored by Bloomdale by AVID Property Group
and Melton City Council (major sponsor).
The much-anticipated event will be held at the school’s oval and hosted by a past Diggers Rest
Primary School student who will perform solo and be joined on stage by students and community
groups participating in the carols.
The Lions Club of Diggers Rest President, Katherine Skinner, said she was thrilled to see this event
come to fruition and hopes to see flocks of families attending the free carols night.
“Aside from carols performed by the talented Diggers Rest Primary school students, the event will
include balloon artists, face painters, market stalls, refreshment sales, and a very special visit from
Santa and Mrs Claus,” Ms Skinner said.
“I am a believer that celebrations like these are essential to our individual wellbeing as they build a
sense of togetherness. They help us to celebrate the year that was and who we are as a Diggers Rest
community.”
Children from all year levels will take part in the evening, performing dances and singing some
Christmas favourites.
The carols are an essential fundraising event for not only the Lions Club, but also the Country Fire
Authority and Diggers Rest Primary School fundraising committee.
AVID Property Group and its Bloomdale community have sponsored the event since 2014 and Project
Director Danny Boubli said it was exciting to see the event’s return.
“After years of lockdowns, we’re so pleased the annual carols are making a return and providing a
festive, fun space for the community to connect,” Mr Boubli said.
“This event is a highlight for many in the area and we are so happy to contribute.
“Bloomdale has been an established residential community in Digger’s Rest for many years now, so it
feels natural to support these great community initiatives from the Lions Club of Diggers Rest.
The event will take place on Thursday, December 8 with pre-entertainment activities beginning at 5pm
on the Diggers Rest Primary School oval.
The most recent carols night, held in 2019, had an attendance of 2000 people and that number is
expected to increase at this year’s event.
