We’re committed to sustainability

At AVID, financial and economic considerations are balanced against social and environmental factors, ensuring we meet the needs of the present generation without compromising considerations for the future.

Our commitment to sustainablility is inherently linked to our four philosophy pillars: Place, Community, Lifestyle and Environment.

Placemaking

The places we create are active, vibrant, engaging and socially sustaining. We dedicate spaces that will become natural meeting points, and will evolve organically to meet the changing needs of generations to come.

Our place management ensures the best process and delivery for a new community in the short term and long term, interwoven with benchmarks to deliver better social, environmental, design and commercial outcomes for all.

Environmental

Environmental and resource sustainability is not only central to all our operations, it’s rigorously measured against international benchmarks.

AVID Property Group is the first, large-scale residential developer to have achieved EnviroDevelopment accreditation across each one of our communities. This is an entire group-effort and is the result of every arm of our business being committed to delivering best practice in environmental and resource sustainability, and actively encouraging that same commitment from our partners, suppliers, stakeholders and our communities.

Community

Sustanability at a social-level is about creating connected communities where people genuinely feel they belong. We co-ordinate local events where people can come together. We contribute ideas and resources to community clubs, schools, workshops, meetings, and social media conversations to help communities grow.

But we’re also focused on the broader community sustainability by drawing upon the local workforce and suppliers, helping contribute to the regional economy and providing ongoing economic stimulus and employment via the industrial, retail, and commercial projects we create.

By focusing on value at every price point and delivering innovative solutions to meet the needs of emerging markets, we contribute to the economic stability of family, businesses, and entire communities.

Lifestyle

Our focus is toward greater health and wellbeing through facilities and programs that encourage an active and dynamic lifestyle for residents. This goes to the design of the landscape and the amenities to provide health, engagement, moveability and connectedness within the community.

Parks, nature reserves, walking and biking trails, exercise and play equipment, passive and active recreation areas – they are all designed to create a healthy outdoor approach to living, and to getting the most out of life.

Our exceptional sustainability outcomes

Aboriginal Landcare Education Program (ALEP) at Breezes Muirhead, NT

The AVID project team initiated an innovative education program in partnership with Greening Australia Northern Territory (GANT) and Defence Housing Australia (DHA).

The objective of the program was to provide education and training to assist indigenous youth in acquiring knowledge, on-site training and ultimately transition them into full time employment while simultaneously securing plant supply for a large residential masterplanned community in Darwin, Breezes Muirhead.

The program consistently recorded one of the highest success rates of any Indigenous training program in Australia, with 63 percent of participants so far completing their qualification and going on to work or further education.*

Bloomdale reaches for the stars

At AVID’s Bloomdale community in Victoria, we’re offering our new residents smart choices for water, power and communication technology.

We know everyone wants high-speed internet and to be able to use technology flexibly in their homes. With this in mind, AVID has ensured that the NBN is available to Bloomdale residents from day one and we’re helping to educate people to take full advantage of the benefits.

Also, we know our residents are focused on the wise use of resources. So, with our builder partners, AVID is delivering options for energy efficiency within homes, plus water re-use outside of the home via access to Class A recycled water with a purple pipe system.

As well, AVID is supporting the local economy by planning future nearby employment zones, optimising the opportunity for our residents to work within walking distance of home.

EnviroDevelopment

EnviroDevelopment certification is Australia’s leading independent environmental accreditation program for new property developments around Australia.

Established by the Urban Development Institute of Australia, their assessment recognises outstanding performance in key sustainability categories. Multiple AVID communities have achieved EnviroDevelopment accreditation, ensuring we have met the standards across Ecosystems, Waste, Water, Materials, Energy and Community categories.

Take 3 for the Sea

Take 3 believes in simple actions to address complex problems.

The global organisation is leading a movement of people who are connected to the planet to remove plastic pollution from the environment and support measures to prevent waste and pollution.

Its education programs in schools, surf clubs, communities and online focus on inspiration and participation. Take 3 believe everyone has the power to act and create positive change, no matter where they are.

In collaboration with Take 3, AVID hosted a series of community events across Australia’s eastern seaboard in 2018, 2019 and 2020.

By enabling local communities to get behind the Take 3 initiative, AVID supported Take 3 in its mission to educate the next generation and inspire genuine change, creating a cleaner environment for the future.
