Bloomdale unveils fifth and final community park
December 14, 2022 | IN Media Release and News | BY AVID | 4 min read
A new community park designed to cater for all ages will add to over seven hectares of green space in
Diggers Rest’s Bloomdale by AVID Property Group in 2023.
New render images reveal the architecturally designed, fifth and final greenspace for the master
planned Bloomdale community, which acts as a sister park for the $1 million Floré Park completed
earlier this year.
CDA Design Group Associate Landscape Architect, Adam Pappas said that feedback from Diggers
Rest locals has been factored into the new park’s design including enough play equipment for toddlers
and the inclusion of traditional play elements such as swing sets.
“By listening to the community and taking on their feedback, future parks are becoming better utilized
and more enjoyable for local residents,” said Mr Pappas.
Mr Pappas said the new park will be linked to Floré Park via a pedestrian bridge across the central
linear reserve, and will include strong visual connection to Floré, referencing similar colours, materials
and planting.
“The new park will include a play tower which is visually striking and impressive in scale, sitting at 7
meters tall.
“The tower has significant play value including a tube and dual slide as well as several unique entry
points, a fireman’s pole, voice tubes, rain-wheel and monkey bars,” said Mr Pappas.
AVID Property Group Project Director Danny Boubli said Bloomdale’s fifth park will offer the
Bloomdale and broader Diggers Rest community more opportunities to meet and play.
“The park design incorporates lots of comfortable seating, a barbecue area, and open green areas so
the community can make the most of the tranquil location for larger social gatherings or relaxed
weekly catch ups.
“There will be a number of turnkey townhomes fronting the new park providing residents with a green
space right on their doorstep, so they can enjoy both the ease of a low maintenance home, and
convenience of park amenities,” said Mr Boubli.
The new park will also feature a large gecko sculpture which will be built in situ with concrete and
mosaic by well-known Victorian sculptor Phil Stray.
Mr Stray said while he originally creates his sculptures as a passive seating space, he has found great
joy in seeing how children and adults play with and utilize the pieces in their everyday lives.
“You see little toddlers running up the back of them, kids jumping of the head, and families
incorporating sculptures into their day to day lives as an iconic and recognizable meeting place,” said
Mr Stray.
The $1.3 million park is due to commence construction in early 2023 and reach completion before the
end of the year.
Townhomes fronting the future park are currently available for sale with prices starting from $499k.
