Buyer demand fuels new neighbourhood in Sunshine Coast ‘hot spot’

Palmview’s largest masterplanned community, Harmony by AVID Property Group, has fast-tracked the release of its latest blocks of land – and new neighbourhood – to meet demand for affordable land in the sought-after area.
In a bid to meet increasing demand, an additional 34 blocks of land ranging in size from 250– 505m² will launch this week – the fourth land release since February – in Harmony’s newest neighbourhood, Unity.
AVID Property Group General Manager Queensland Bruce Harper said the launch of Unity had been accelerated due to overwhelming interest from locals and interstate buyers looking for a sea change.
“Residential property demand is surging in the region and as prices continue to rise, buyers are increasingly looking for affordable land options in desirable locations,” Mr Harper said.
“Over the past year, demand in the region has grown exponentially as more people look to build their own homes in well-known property ‘hot spots’.”
With the population of the Sunshine Coast projected to grow to almost 453,000 by 2036 (from around 311,550 in 2017)1, Harmony is set to deliver more than 4,800 homes for 12,000 future residents.
“Our new neighbourhood will encourage residents to stay active right on their doorstep with extensive walking and bike trails, a five-hectare recreation park and a one-hectare local park,” Mr Harper said.
Sunshine Coast local Alyssa Jackson and her partner James who recently moved up from Canberra, have just purchased a block of land in Harmony and hope to move into their new home in early 2019.
“It’s pretty competitive to purchase a block of land at Harmony; there were other buyers lining up for almost two hours before the Sales Centre even opened,” Ms Jackson said.
“When looking for a block of land to purchase, we couldn’t go past Harmony – the central location and community feel of Harmony is just perfect.

“Harmony’s location was what really encouraged us to purchase in the area – the proximity to the highway, University of the Sunshine Coast, hospital and the shops in the Maroochydore CBD make it a very convenient location to live.”
Wanting to get into the property market as soon as possible, Alyssa and James decided to build a brand-new home, rather than purchasing an established home, so they could take advantage of the First Home Owners’ Grant.
“We wanted to get into the property market so that we could pay off a mortgage rather than continue to pay money renting,” Ms Jackson said.
“The team at Harmony has been incredibly helpful throughout the buying process – we knew very little about purchasing property, but they have guided us through each step.”
