Coast popularity surge as Harmony welcomes 150th family

The popularity of the Sunshine Coast continues to surge with homebuyers flocking from interstate to enjoy the Coast’s enviable lifestyle and snap up their dream homes.
Palmview’s largest masterplanned community, Harmony by AVID Property, is symbolic of the attractive lifestyle offered on the Coast, a fact not lost on the Spitz family who will become the 150th family to join Harmony’s community when they move into their new home this week.
Katie and Johnny Spitz were living 90 minutes south of Sydney when they came to visit friends in July of 2017 with their two children, Audrey and Teddy.
“We were visiting the area for a friend’s birthday and we fell in love almost instantly,” Mrs Spitz said.
“I couldn’t believe how warm and beautiful the area was in July – we made the decision to move up to Harmony almost on the spot.
“We went back home, put our house on the market and moved up to Queensland.”
More than 300 families are expected to call Harmony home by mid-2019, when construction on homes in stages three to four are completed.
More than 50 per cent of the growth of the region is from people moving from interstate[1] and that trend is expected to continue. With the Sunshine Coast forecast to have the second highest growth rate of any region in Queensland for at least another 15 years[2],
Johnny said the lifestyle and the affordable house prices were among the key deciding factors for the move from New South Wales to Queensland.
The family of four have just put the finishing touches on their five-bedroom, three-bathroom home and plunge pool ahead of moving in this weekend.
“We designed this house to make the most of the space – we wanted our indoor space to be comfortable with room for the kids to grow,” Mr Spitz said.
“It was very important that our property was low maintenance, so we can enjoy the different spaces and spend the weekends at the beach, playing with the kids or at the Grand Linear Park, rather than mowing the lawn.
AVID Property Group General Manager Queensland Bruce Harper said the community had grown into a vibrant area that attracted attention from buyers around the country.
“Harmony is a beautiful and unique place to live, and families all across Australia are interested in joining our community,” Mr Harper said.
“There’s a lot to love, but the fact that our community has been designed to cater for people and families of all ages is hugely attractive to buyers.
“We’re exceptionally proud of the diverse community that has formed in the last year, and can’t wait to see who else will come to call Harmony home.”
