This week, the Daniel Morcombe Foundation, Murphy Homes and AVID Property Group (AVID) announced that the Build it for the Kids project home in AVID’s Harmony community is set to go under the hammer at 1pm on Sunday 27 September 2020.
The Build it for the Kids home – which started construction in October 2019 – will be auctioned to raise vital funds to support the Foundation in delivery child safety education and counselling services to the local Sunshine Coast community.
Bruce and Denise Morcombe said it was exciting to watch the house come together over the past nine months.
“This is a huge achievement for the Build it for the Kids project and I’m looking forward to welcoming the lucky family that will soon call Harmony home and seeing the impact their new home will have on supporting the Foundation,” Mr Morcombe said.
“Every donation, no matter how small, helps and this project is a great way for us to spread awareness – it’s been wonderful to see the local community rally behind us,” Mrs Morcombe said.
AVID General Manager Queensland Bruce Harper said he and the entire AVID team were incredibly proud to have joined forces with the Daniel Morcombe Foundation and Murphy Homes to raise much needed funds for the Foundation.
“It seems like just yesterday we turned the first sod back in October – seeing the home go under the hammer will be a memorable day for everyone involved,” Mr Harper said.
“The home is located in the heart of Harmony on one of our best blocks of land adjoining our Grand Linear Park – it’s a fantastic location so I’m really hoping we can raise as much money as possible for the Morcombe’s.
“The future owners of this home will know that by purchasing this incredible house, they have helped support young people and children across the Sunshine Coast and Australia.
“And as a nice reminder of the home’s ties to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation and the amazing work it does, the home will have a bright red letterbox at the front of the property.”
The finished home features four-bedrooms including a master suite with walk-in robe, two and a half bathrooms, a large alfresco area, an outdoor fire pit and a pool.
Murphy Homes Director Brooke Bastien said she was truly grateful to everyone who had supported the project through donations of labour and goods.
“The generosity and support that this project has received from all of our suppliers, tradespeople and supporters is truly amazing – our community has really banded together, and we couldn’t be more delighted!” Ms Bastien said.
The auction will take place on Sunday 27 September at 1pm at Harmony – on the Corner of Hulme Street and Parkway Terrace, off Peter Crosby Way, Palmview.
