Forty children from Diggers Rest Primary School have become the first official community visitors to experience Bloomdale by AVID Property Group’s million-dollar playground on Wednesday, October 19.
The one-hectare Floré Neighbourhood Park is Bloomdale’s fourth and biggest park to date, featuring a plethora of nature-based play zones. The Year 1 and Year 2 cohorts tested out the park following the park’s private opening on Saturday, October 8.
AVID Property Group Victoria Project Director Danny Boubli said: “It’s fitting to have Diggers Rest Primary School students as the first children in the community play in the park.
“Already so many of them call Bloomdale home, and I can imagine many of them 30 years from now telling their own children how they were the first school kids to play here when it opened. We also organised some goodie bags with little treats from nut free snacks to yoyos so they can continue the fun at home.”
While a private park opening for Bloomdale residents was held in recent weeks, these students were some of the first members of the broader community to try features such as the timber and rope agility course, an exploration maze with musical chimes and an “orbit” carousel and basket swing, plus much more.
Diggers Rest Primary School Principal Sheridan Thomas said the students had been excited about their visit for weeks and had been looking forward to the park’s completion.
“The students have been so excited to be among the first guests of this beautiful park and have been talking about what they’ll play on,” Mrs Thomas said.
“Our school prides itself on fostering strong community connections, and Floré Neighbourhood Park provides students and families with a beautiful setting to meet, form friendships and further their learning through play. This park is such a wonderful community asset for Diggers Rest.”
