It takes a pioneering spirit to be the first at anything, but for one Gold Coast couple being among the first to buy and move into a new residential community taking shape in Queensland’s south-east has proved to be “a dream come true”.
First-home buyers and Gold Coast locals, nurse Joanna Petersen and her husband Ryan, a local postman, currently have just two neighbours, but are looking forward to welcoming more as their new Ormeau community – the $100 million residential development Amara by AVID Property Group (AVID) – evolves.
The booming suburb of Ormeau – located in the northern growth corridor between Brisbane and the Gold Coast – is set to be home to more than one million residents by 2050, about 400 of whom will be living in one of Amara’s 180 turnkey homes.
Mrs Petersen said being one of the first residents to move into a developing community was exciting.
“We get to watch Amara evolve from start to finish and meet so many new people along the way,” she said.
“While we were saving for years, we have been busy searching to find the right place that suited both our lifestyles and the opportunity to start a family.”
“Moving from Southport we wanted something quiet and peaceful. Amara offers the perfect escape from the constant busyness of the city and sky-rise developments, while still positioning us in a great location halfway between the Gold Coast and Brisbane.”
“With open green spaces and the hinterland, or white beaches just a short drive away, it feels like an eternal holiday.”
AVID General Manager Queensland Bruce Harper described the first residents to purchase in a developing residential community as “property pioneers”.
“These buyers are confident decision-makers who can see beyond a vacant block of land to the vision of what their finished home and community will be. They lock in their house value early and reap the growth that accumulates with the maturation of a new community,” Mr Harper said.
“To see Amara finally come to fruition and its community start to form is exciting. As more people move in it will be wonderful to see the region develop and diversify.”
Amara presents home buyers with a premium housing product by longstanding building firm, Villaworld Homes by AVID, in an exclusive enclave in the fast-growing northern Gold Coast suburb of Ormeau which experienced home price increases of 18 percent over the past year.
Amara’s community design compliments the more premium estates within Ormeau, not only through the quality of its homes, but also through the incorporation of 12.9 hectares of green space – which represents 40 per cent of the project footprint.
Departing from the typical instalment-based residential building contract, AVID offers a single fixed-price house and land contract with a minimal deposit. Buyers don’t pay another cent until the turnkey home – which includes air-conditioning, window blinds, fencing, a driveway and landscaping – is completed, which could save them thousands.
Mr Harper said in the current economic climate he expected more buyers to do their homework on contract terms and conditions and to seek out more secure purchasing options from well-resourced and long-standing companies.
“Buying property is a significant investment and people want to feel assured they’re in safe hands.”
