Harmony invests back into local Palmview community

To help support the Sunshine Coast and give back to the local community, Harmony by AVID Property Group (AVID) has today officially launched its 2021 Community Sponsorship and Grants Program to support its local community.
These sponsorship and grants form part of Harmony’s overarching Community Engagement and Events Program which will see more than $250,000 invested back into the region each year.
This launch comes as the Palmview community also announced its continued support of local netball legends, Sunshine Coast Lightning, for the fifth consecutive year in a partnership that promotes active and healthy living, and an interconnected community.
AVID’s Queensland Project Director Anthony Demiris said the Harmony team was dedicated to supporting its residents and the wider Palmview community through its Grants program.
“We open our Community Sponsorship and Grants Program each year because we know it’s not always easy for the smaller community groups and businesses to cover costs and stay up and running,” Mr Demiris said.
This year, Harmony has two categories of grants on offer – Connect Grants for up to $10,000 designed to create lasting community partnerships in and around harmony; and Activate Grants for up to $2,500 to support local initiatives at a grassroots level, with projects delivered within Harmony.
“Without local business and community groups, Palmview and the Sunshine Coast wouldn’t have the character and culture that it’s known for today. These grants are about strengthening connectivity in our local community,” Mr Demiris said.
“Last year we were overwhelmed by the high calibre of applications we received, all offering a wide variety of community initiatives and activities – ranging from the arts, to sport, community groups and even STEM learning.
“Sponsorships play an important role in shaping a community, and we are excited to launch a new range of grants for 2021 which are specifically designed to help our local Harmony community thrive.”
Lightning players Cara Koenen, Peace Proscovia and Laura Scherian joined the Harmony community to mark the five-year partnership and launch Harmony’s 2021 Grants program.
Lightning CEO Danielle Smith said that while the Club’s partnership with AVID evolves each year, the collective aim to foster positive change in our Sunshine Coast community remains at the forefront.
“As a Club, we are so proud to align with one of our inaugural partners in AVID for a fifth season,” Ms Smith said.
“Community is central to both organisations, so it is fitting that we celebrate the extended partnership as AVID opens up its Harmony Community Sponsorship and Grants Program for 2021.
“The lasting impact of these grants within the community are a credit to AVID and we are privileged to align with a partner who possesses such a strong social conscience.”
Past Community Sponsorship and Grants recipients at Harmony have included Sunshine Sign and Sing, SES Maroochydore, The Daniel Morcombe Foundation and Chancellor State College Chaplaincy Program.
