Suncorp Super Netball Club Sunshine Coast Lightning has received a major boost with its Foundation Premium Partnership with AVID Property Group (AVID) extended for another two years.
The announcement comes 30 days before the start of the 2022 season and marks the sixth consecutive year of AVID’s partnership with the Coast’s national elite sporting team.
Supporting the Club since its foundation in 2016, AVID General Manager Queensland Bruce Harper said AVID was excited to yet again put its support behind the Lightning team.
“AVID has always been dedicated to supporting the Harmony community’s local Sunshine Coast region and we are incredibly proud to be extending our corporate sponsorship for another two years with the local national team,” Mr Harper said.
“Last year wasn’t an easy season as the sport was impacted by the ongoing effects of COVID-19, yet the team had another incredible year making their way to their fifth consecutive finals series in the Suncorp Super Netball league.
“With Lightning’s home court at the University of the Sunshine Coast just around the corner from the Harmony community, we’re thrilled to continue to support the team as they progress from strength to strength.”
Harmony’s relationship with Lightning extends well beyond the court, having welcomed two of the teams’ own players – Wing Attack Laura Scherian and Goal Shooter Cara Koenen – to their dream homes in the Palmview community.
Sunshine Coast Lightning Chief Executive Officer Danielle Smith is thrilled to have a Foundation Partner of such a high calibre continue to invest in the Club’s sixth and seventh seasons.
“The Club’s partnership with AVID, a multi-million-dollar developer, continues to thrive as we head into year six in the world’s premier netball competition,” Ms Smith said.
“We look forward to the continued collaboration to raise the profile of both the Lightning and AVID while continuing to excel in our respective fields.
“Community is also an important pillar for both our Club and AVID and that really underpins the natural alignment in this partnership.”
The Lightning team will commence its season going head-to-head with the West Coast Fever on Sunday 27 March at RAC Arena.
