Local professionals rush to final terraces in Gold Coast employment hub

Demand is flooding in for AVID Property Group’s (AVID) Sphere Garden Terraces with the final stage now selling and the total sell-out of 74 terrace homes anticipated ahead of construction completion.
Coming less than 12 months after the lifestyle offering was launched to the market, AVID expects hot competition from buyers who face limited options for new homes close to two of the Gold Coast’s largest employers – Gold Coast University Hospital and Griffith University.
AVID General Manager Queensland Bruce Harper said the company was experiencing strong demand for the final 24 Garden Terrace homes.
“Neighbouring the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct, the fast tracking of the community has come as no surprise despite launching to the market less than a year ago.
“We’re noticing a surge in demand for three-bedroom homes, predominately from a mix of young professionals and families wanting to get into one of the Gold Coast’s most convenient and central lifestyle locations. In addition to this, feedback from buyers is that the design and outdoor spaces offered is similar to that of a stand-alone home.
“Southport benefits from regular demand from established families, older couples, young professionals and a significant health professional market, with 91 per cent of the terrace homes being owner occupied.”
Unseen levels of owner occupier take up on this type of product are due to the convenience, proximity and lifestyle offering with AVID selling more than 50 terrace homes within Sphere Garden Terrace since launching in August 2020.
Sphere Garden Terrace owner Tjun Gan and his wife Jinq Loke who works at the Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH), purchased a home in September 2020 – eager to get their foot on the property market ladder and purchase a property close to the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct.
“We’ve lived on the Gold Coast for more than four years now, and decided it was time to settle down so started looking around the Southport area. We drove by Sphere every day on our commute to work and just couldn’t go pass it,” Mr Gan said.
“My wife was particularly drawn to Sphere due to the close proximity to her work at the GCUH – it’s really on our doorstep, the commute for her is just a short walk or quick bike ride away.
“Buying at Sphere was an easy decision for us, we are surrounded by parks and sports fields, plus the sales team made the process just so easy.
“Being first home buyers, we were new to the process, but the sales team guided us through the sale, the finance, and how to apply for the First Homeowner’s Grant – which really helped with our deposit.
“We’re so thrilled to have a place to call our own and are excited to move in this month and start using some of the great amenities within and surrounding Sphere.”
The community, which includes 74 two-storey, three-bedroom, and two-and-a-half-bathroom Garden Terrace homes, resort style facilities including a leisure pool, lap pool, spa, sauna, gym and barbecue.
