Savana by AVID Property Group (AVID) has announced the recipients of its 2022 Sponsorship and Grants Program, which will give two local sporting groups in Wyndham a welcome funding boost.
Manor Lakes Football Club and Wyndham Netball Association each received a $5,000 grant today and welcomed news of their sponsorships as part of Savana by AVID Property Group’s 2022 Sponsorship and Grants Program.
AVID Victoria General Manager Peter Vlitas said it was the second time Savana had offered the grants program, and it was pleasing to give the clubs welcomed news to start 2022.
“Savana by AVID Property Group is a vibrant, growing community and we are pleased to be part of the wider Wyndham community,” Mr Vlitas said.
“Our annual grants and sponsorships program is a way of giving back to a community we are so proud to be a part of.
“This year in particular, the grants provide a welcomed financial boost to the community following a tough time due to the pandemic.”
On behalf of the Manor Lakes Football Club, President Shane White said funding would go towards launching two new teams in the under 16s and under 18s age group.
“Savana’s sponsorship will play a big role in getting these new teams off the ground, providing money for new jumpers, equipment and match and training balls,” Mr White said.
“The grant will also help us put funds towards new equipment following a break-in at the club just before Christmas.
“With our 2020 and 2021 seasons constantly stopping and starting, the Covid-19 pandemic has made it challenging, but 2022 is looking more positive.
“We are seeing participation levels increase with our younger teams and the Auskick program is growing in numbers as well.
“Community sport is such a great way for kids to get away from the screens, be active and meet people in their community, and provides social and mental health benefits for all players.
“Footy teaches kids important skills like discipline and teamwork which can help them outside of community sport and as a club, we focus on supporting our players in all aspects of their lives, with access to support workers and career-preparation training like RSA courses.
“We’re looking forward to seeing our teams in the finals in 2022 and hopefully we get to enjoy a full season.”
Wyndham Netball Association President Fiona Cooke said funding would be invested in the development of players and coaches and the promotion of netball locally to grow our game in Wyndham.
“The grant funds will help us host the Netball Victoria Central West Regional Championships in May, as well as to establish our Academy program in the lead up to championships,” Ms Cooke said.
“After two years of covid restrictions, we’re so excited to get each of our 2000 playing members back on court for the 2022 season.
“Netball is a fantastic team sport and watching our players get back to what they love, as well as to see all the new player enquiries coming through each week, is just wonderful for the Association.
“Everyone is welcome to play netball with Wyndham Netball Association – we cater for all abilities and netball is a great way to meet new people in an active, fast-paced environment.”
Three other AVID communities in Victoria – Bloomdale, Hillstowe and Carolina– also offered an annual Sponsorship and Grants Program for 2022. The grants represented an investment of more than $60,000 by AVID into the Melbourne economy.
Manor Lakes Football Club was the recipient of last years’ Savana by AVID Property Group $5,000 sponsorship. President Shane White said funding went towards equipment and jumpers for the under 12s, under 14s and senior women’s football teams.
