LINKING the past with the future, the gateway to the $3b Harmony master-planned community at Palmview was opened this week.

Named Peter Crosby Way in honour of one of the early families to settle in the area, the road will be used by 12,000 future Harmony residents as well as those in neighbouring communities.

Cr Rick Baberowski said the event was a landmark day for residential development in Palmview.

“The opening of Peter Crosby Way is a significant milestone for this area of the Sunshine Coast,” Cr Baberowski said.

“This is a particularly significant moment in the creation of the future community of Harmony, which will bring an important expansion of choice in housing styles in a new location on the Coast.

“Council is pleased to have helped to accelerate the delivery of key infrastructure for the community by providing up to $9m for the main road, which will be repaid to council as lots are sold off.

“Harmony’s main entry road – Peter Crosby Way – will not only service future Harmony residents and those in neighbouring communities. It will also acknowledge the site’s connection to the Crosby family.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image media=”52118″ media_lightbox=”yes” media_width_percent=”100″][vc_column_text]

“With the Sunshine Coast’s population continuing to grow over the next 20 years, the master-planned community of Harmony is delivering much-needed housing to meet demand in the region, as well as generating 9000 jobs through the delivery of the project.”

AVID Property Group general manager Bruce Harper said the road’s name paid homage to the site’s Crosby family history.

“The Crosby family’s relationship with the Sunshine Coast spans over a century and there is no more fitting name for the road than Peter Crosby Way,” Mr Harper said.

“Over the next 15 to 20 years, Harmony will deliver more than 4800 quality homes, 100 hectares of parklands and a new town centre.”

On hand for the opening were the late Peter Crosby’s wife Marilyn, son Ben and his wife Emma, and their boys Angus and Charlie – the great, great grandchildren of Bill Crosby.

Ben Crosby said it was an honour to have the main road named after his late father.

“My father was known for his hard working values, connection to the land and humble community leadership,” Mr Crosby said.

“He was actively involved in serving the community and was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship through the Rotary Foundation.

“He was also an active member of the Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show Society.

“We are humbled that the road has been named after him and this is a great way to honour his legacy in Palmview.”[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image media=”51946″ media_lightbox=”yes” media_width_percent=”100″][vc_column_text]SourceSunshine Coast Daily[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row row_height_percent=”0″ override_padding=”yes” h_padding=”2″ top_padding=”3″ bottom_padding=”3″ overlay_alpha=”100″ gutter_size=”3″ shift_y=”0″ row_height_use_pixel=””][vc_column column_width_use_pixel=”yes” overlay_alpha=”50″ gutter_size=”3″ medium_width=”0″ shift_x=”0″ shift_y=”0″ zoom_width=”0″ zoom_height=”0″ column_width_pixel=”800″][uncode_block id=”50096″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row row_height_percent=”0″ override_padding=”yes” h_padding=”2″ top_padding=”0″ bottom_padding=”0″ overlay_alpha=”100″ gutter_size=”3″ shift_y=”0″ row_height_use_pixel=””][vc_column column_width_use_pixel=”yes” overlay_alpha=”50″ gutter_size=”3″ medium_width=”0″ shift_x=”0″ shift_y=”0″ zoom_width=”0″ zoom_height=”0″ column_width_pixel=”800″][vc_separator sep_color=”color-uydo”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row row_height_percent=”0″ override_padding=”yes” h_padding=”2″ top_padding=”3″ bottom_padding=”3″ overlay_alpha=”100″ gutter_size=”3″ shift_y=”0″ row_height_use_pixel=””][vc_column column_width_use_pixel=”yes” overlay_alpha=”50″ gutter_size=”3″ medium_width=”0″ shift_x=”0″ shift_y=”0″ zoom_width=”0″ zoom_height=”0″ column_width_pixel=”800″][uncode_block id=”49444″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
