Plenty to See and Do in the Sunshine State’s Capital
July 13, 2023 | IN Together Magazine | BY AVID | 3 min read
Queensland’s laid-back capital of Brisbane is known for its world heritage rainforests, riverside restaurants, and inner-city river ferry services called “CityCats” and “KittyCats”.
Brisbane is also becoming known for hosting major sporting and cultural events, thanks to its modern theatres, auditoriums, and world-class stadiums. Some of the world’s best sandy beaches are just a stone’s throw away from the city’s heart; it is only about a 90-minute drive to the relaxed and colourful Sunshine Coast, and about 60 minutes’ drive to reach Queensland’s Gold Coast with all its theme parks, shows, resorts, casino, shopping, and other attractions.
In 2018 the Gold Coast hosted the Commonwealth Games, and soon the whole world’s eyes will be on Brisbane, which is abuzz with new revitalisation and infrastructure plans in preparation for the 2032 Olympic Games.
Brisbane offers some truly wonderful weekend or longer stay experiences regardless of whether you’re an adventure buff, looking to relax with the family, or wanting to spend lots of time in your swimmers.
