Queensland’s first Grand Linear Park to capture coastal hearts

The wait is over for Sunshine Coast residents as the first phase of Harmony by AVID Property Group’s highly anticipated Grand Linear Park prepares to open three months ahead of schedule.

The size, scope and calibre of the park – which covers the length of 10 football fields and spans more than five hectares – is a first for Queensland and is set to become a major drawcard for local residents and visitors seeking to embrace the active, outdoor lifestyle synonymous with coastal living.

AVID Property Group General Manager Queensland Bruce Harper said AVID was thrilled to open the first phase of the Grand Linear Park.

“At five times the size of a standard park on the Coast, the Grand Linear Park will serve as a catalyst for wellbeing and connectivity for residents and tourists alike,” Mr Harper said.

The first $3.1 million phase consists of two hectares of community space and features three separate play areas for locals to explore.

A set of six swings, two table tennis tables and a 30.2 metre multi-play structure with a slide, spider’s web, swinging ropes and stepping stones will also provide outdoor options for children of all ages and abilities.

AVID has ensured the park promotes and fosters the Sunshine Coast’s active lifestyle, with pull-up bars, parallel bars and rope bells from leading outdoor equipment designers KOMPAN Australia available in the specially-designed outdoor fitness centre.

Despite the emphasis on fitness and exercise, the Grand Linear Park also caters to a more relaxed lifestyle, with many quiet nooks and crannies for those looking to unwind and enjoy the temperate coastal climate.

The remaining phases of parkland development remain true to the active theme, with each hectare of park set to offer its own specially-designed playground and amenity.

Sunshine Coast Deputy Mayor Councillor Tim Dwyer said the Grand Linear Park was a boon for the Coast and its residents.

“AVID Property Group has incorporated the authentic Sunshine Coast experience throughout the park, promoting the surrounding green bushland, clear skies and the active coastal lifestyle we love so much,” Councillor Dwyer said.

“It’s fantastic to see AVID facilitating and encouraging an active and healthy lifestyle for Coast residents with fitness and wellbeing a clear motivation behind the design of the park.”

The Grand Linear Park is ultimately a series of diverse parks equipped with unique facilities and identities, forming a central corridor of open green space and acting as a visual and physical ‘green spine’ connecting the neighbourhood.

This unique layout of the linear park has ensured 90 per cent of Harmony residents live within 250 metres of a local park and that each neighbourhood is connected to the development’s 60km network of pedestrian path and cycle ways.
