Sunny Coast a dream for Western Australian family

December 21, 2018 | IN Media Release and News | BY AVID | 3 min read

A Western Australian family of five have packed their bags and moved across the country to live in their dream home in Palmview’s largest master planned community – Harmony by AVID Property Group.

The family joins more than 25,800 Australians who switched their addresses to the Sunshine State in 2017/181 – up more than 8,000 from the previous year2.

Over the past decade (June 2007 to June 2017), Queensland has been the only state to see annual growth on its net internal migration figures1.

Glen Vidler, wife Brooke and their three kids moved to Harmony in June 2018, after hearing how quickly blocks of land were selling on the Coast, joining the almost 2,400 Western Australians who migrated to Queensland last year3.

Glen said he felt like his family had struck gold when they discovered Harmony.

“We downsized from a 480m² block to a 375m² – it fits everything we need with much less maintenance to worry about,” said Mr Vidler.

“The location makes it a great place to live – we love the open spaces and the parks, it is so close to schools, shops, doctors and a short drive to the highway to get to Brisbane and, best of all, it’s only 10 minutes from the beach,” Mr Vidler said.

Glen said their four-bedroom, two-bathroom family home with media room and pool was value for money for the family of five, and the support received during the buying process made the move to Harmony a breeze.

“We were looking for something that was still close to town, but without all the crazy traffic,” Mr Vidler said.

AVID Property Group General Manager Queensland Bruce Harper said he had seen an increasing number of buyers relocate from their interstate homes – a trend he expected to continue.

“Our community is designed to cater for people and families of all ages, which is a big attraction for buyers,” Mr Harper said.

“Buyers in other states are seeing that Queensland, in particular the Sunshine Coast, is such a great place to live, with employment opportunities created by the new University and Kawana

hospitals, the future Maroochydore CBD and five new schools set to open over the next 10 years.

“We will also start to see a big injection into the Sunshine Coast economy with more than 12 major infrastructure projects planned for the region over the next few years, including the expansion of the Sunshine Coast airport, the University, Sunshine Plaza and the Bruce Highway.”
