Sunshine Coast Lightning has today confirmed a two-year contract extension with Premium Partner AVID Property Group (AVID), with the 2021 season marking five years in partnership.
Lightning and AVID announced the ongoing partnership ahead of International Women’s Day at AVID’s Harmony community in Palmview, neighbouring Lightning’s elite USC Stadium facilities.
Lightning CEO Danielle Smith was joined by Head Coach Kylee Byrne, players Laura Scherian, Steph Wood and Karla Pretorius, as well as AVID General Manager Queensland Bruce Harper to address media.
Smith said the multi-year partnership between Lightning and AVID was mutually beneficial, with both organisations investing heavily into the betterment of the Sunshine Coast community.
“We are thrilled that AVID has extended its partnership with the Club for a further two seasons,” Smith said.
“As a foundation partner from 2017, AVID have put its trust in us when we were little more than a logo, and we are proud to have delivered them with a strong return on investment, as well as continuing to foster exceptional community alignment.
“It has been tremendous to see both organisations evolve, particularly through the growth of the Harmony community on Lightning’s doorstep.”
AVID General Manger Queensland Bruce Harper praised the alignment with Lightning, highlighting the Club’s positive influence in the Sunshine Coast community.
“Netball is the most popular team sports for girls and, like all aspiring athletes, young women look to their favourite players for leadership and the Sunshine Coast Lightning are wonderful role models for the younger generation,” Mr Harper said.
Lightning foundation player and Harmony resident Laura Scherian can attest to the impact that both the Club and AVID have had in the region since Lightning’s inception.
“From the very beginning, the Sunshine Coast community has been at the core of what Lightning stands for and in my experience, AVID have gone above and beyond to accommodate residents and make this piece of the Coast feel like home,” Scherian said.
“It is exciting to see Lightning and AVID work in continued partnership for another two seasons.”
