New park opening in the ‘Heartland’ of Greenbank

July 11, 2023 | IN Media Release and News | BY Holly Brennan | 3 min read

A Greenbank community with one third of land dedicated to greenspace is set to open up new
parklands adding over 6,500m2 of greenspace to Covella by AVID Property Group (AVID) and
Greenfields Development Company in mid-July 2023.

The new Central Park is nearing completion with preparations for a community family fair to celebrate
the opening at AVID’s Covella community next month on Saturday 15 July.

Set to be home to 5,250 residents upon completion, Covella’s new parklands located in the Heartland
precinct will include a network of integrated pathways, recreation, and environmental open space
catering to all ages.

AVID General Manager Queensland Group Bruce Harper said a community park should offer more
than just beautiful spaces for the community, they are a place to connect with family and friends or
meet new people.

“Not only will the Central Park provide exciting features for all ages, but it’s positioning at the highpoint
of the central neighbourhood offers the perfect place for all residents to enjoy the views and amenities
of one of the most scenic parts of the community,” Mr Harper said.

“AVID is renowned for creating communities with a focus on greenspace and lifestyle – Covella’s
Central Park is a testament to this, encouraging people to spend quality time outdoors.

“There are a number of homes fronting the new park providing residents a green space right on their
doorstep, so they can enjoy both the views and convenience of park amenities.

“It’s clear from market trends that Australians are still gravitating towards properties with more space
and access to green and active public areas, a need Covella has been catering to eager buyers,” he
said.

AVID Property Group worked with landscape architects to help design Covella’s new centrepiece.

Senior Landscape Architect, Glen Challenor, from Saunders Havill Group – the design team behind
Covella’s new Central Park – said the park’s positioning in the Heartland neighborhood of Covella
influenced the strategic and creative direction when designing the park.

“Heartland is a central community focal point for residents, so we wanted to ensure this space
provided ample opportunities for active play, rest, relaxation and socialising with your neighbours,
family and friends,” Mr Challenor said.

“The new park will include a playground setting with a challenging climbing tower, slides and swings
alongside a pump track, half basketball court and informal ‘kickabout’ games area.

“It was important to integrate shaded areas, especially for young children, so the design incorporates
existing retained trees as well as new advanced trees, shade sails and shelters over picnic and rest
areas throughout the space,” he said.

Covella’s design responds to market priorities through not only dedicating one-third of the total land
area to green space but offering a range of blocks catering to all home sizes and budgets.

Including some larger lifestyle blocks that range from 2,000m2 to 2,085m2 * – being more than five
times the size of an average new block of residential land in Greater Brisbane.
